Could The Time Spent Watching TV and Other Electronic Media Be Cutting Years Off The Life Of Your Family?
A recent study that was cited by many news outlets and social media talked about how Sitting Is The New Smoking.
This was based on the finding that every hour sitting meant a shorter life.
Another huge study out of China found brain atrophy / loss with heavy internet use. It was so significant that the researchers referred to it as digital dementia.
In a similar study to those and others, Australian researchers looked at how watching TV effected lifespan.
The results? More TV, shorter life.
A study found a significant association between people watching more TV and living shorter lives.
It doesn’t establish cause, only correlation, BUT the results were very concerning.
Here’s what they found…
In people over 25 for every hour of TV watched, their lifespan shortened by 22 minutes.
This is more than double what you lose every time you smoke a cigarette.
