The opiate epidemic is a serious threat to our country's health.
Commonly, people start opiates with a simple goal – to help their pain. This can turn into a nightmare for people as the medication ends up taking over their lives.
Oregon decided to do something about it last year.
Oregon expanded it's coverage of chiropractic care for a very important reason, "to reduce the prevalence of opioid addiction."
According to Oregon's "Back Policy Changes Fact Sheet," the Health Evidence Review Commission decided to add these treatments after a review of new evidence of their effectiveness, particularly a bio-psychosocial model that aims to help back pain sufferers continue their normal activities.
More importantly, the new policy hopes to reduce the reliance on medication and surgery.
