Diet Effects Pain and Inflammation.
Arthritis commonly effects the knees and can cause serious pain and difficulty doing daily tasks in so many people.
Here’s a potential solution that you may have never heard about…
A low carb diet was found to dramatically improve osteoarthritis knee pain and inflammation.
Inflammation is tied to so many chronic health problems including arthritis and the common osteoarthritis that causes so many people a lot of knee pain.
Low carb, ketogenic diets often improve inflammation in people which can have a positive impact on how much pain we feel.
This was shown in a recent study that compared the effects of low carb versus low fat diets on knee pain.
Low Carb Diet for Knee Pain
Researchers compared the effects of either low carb or low fat diet on older adults with osteoarthritis related knee pain.
Over 12 weeks, the low carb diet group reduced pain and improved difficulty in performing some functional pain tasks compared with the low fat diet and control.
The low carb diet also significantly reduced oxidative stress and the adipokine, leptin, compared with the low fat and control groups.
Reduction in oxidative stress was related to reduced pain during movements and daily activities.
When People Are Suffering With Pain, They Rarely Consider Diet As A Way To Improve Their Pain.
Diet can have a significant impact on how much pain we feel, regardless of whether or not we have a chronic condition like arthritis.
Many people with a condition like arthritis think their pain can’t ever improve, only worsen.
This isn’t necessarily true.
Often changes in diet, lifestyle, and movement based physical treatments like chiropractic can make a huge difference in pain and ability to do day to day tasks.
Reducing high carbs/insulin levels helps many people with pain and more beyond weight loss as seen here in this study of older adults with osteoarthritis and knee pain.
The researchers even suggest that this might be an opiate alternative for those suffering with arthritis and knee pain.
