About 1 In 5 People Put Their Health At Serious Risk By Taking Too Much Over The Counter Pain Reliever Medication
A recent article in the Journal Pharmacoepidemiology and Drug Safety finds that it is common that ibuprofen users exceed safety recommendations for the over the counter pain reliever by taking the medication too often or with other drugs like other NSAIDs.
Ibuprofen that is sold under the brand name Motrin and other over the counter pain relievers is an NSAID often used as an anti-inflammatory or pain reliever.
It’s often taken for headaches and musculoskeletal problems like neck pain, shoulder area pain, low back pain, arthritis, and other painful problems.
The fact that it is available over the counter lead many people to mistakenly believe that it’s 100% safe.
Virtually no one reads the fine print on the packaging that discusses safety issues and side effects.
Other blog posts have discussed serious problems that can result from taking these medications ranging from kidney problems to heart attacks.
Taking a step back from the problem of taking too much of these pain relievers, it has to be asked why do you have pain in the first place?
We experience pain because we have a problem and it’s our body’s way of getting our attention and telling us we should stop doing certain things that might be causing further damage.
The problem is that this process often gets carried away and is very unpleasant preventing us from doing things that we often need to do and not allowing us to enjoy our lives.
A better approach is often seeing a Chiropractor to determine what is wrong – the dysfunction in the neuro-muscular skeletal system beyond the general diagnosis of ‘arthritis,’ headaches, etc.
We can often find the source of the pain and change it so that you feel better now and later which allows you to function better while reducing the need for pain relievers.
