Stress, High Blood Pressure, Cardiovascular Disease, and Chiropractic
High blood pressure is a risk factor for cardiovascular disease, stroke, and worse. Check out this short video to learn more about what you can do about it to improve your health and reduce your risks.
Watch the short video above to discover what researchers have found about Chiropractic Treatment, Lifestyle Changes, and Hypertension.
Stress, working long hours, poor eating, lack of exercise, and other factors are part of our modern lifestyle.
It’s causing serious health problems, including high blood pressure that result in damage to the blood vessels that for far too many people leads to a heart attack, stroke, and unfortunately an early death.
Here’s what you probably do not know about high blood pressure…
Chiropractic care may help.
A study in the Journal of Hypertension found some shocking results.
8 weeks of chiropractic care reduced blood pressure on average 17 points(the top number) and 10 points(the bottom number)!
This improvement in blood pressure is similar to reductions seen when taking 2 different blood pressure medications.
This was only one study, however it does suggest that people with hypertension can be helped with chiropractic care.
It should also be noted that this result may even be greater if it were done by a doctor with post doctorate training in functional neurology because it is through the sympathetic nervous system that we may effect the blood pressure.
It should also be noted that it is through the sympathetic nervous system that pain can be effected as well. There is a close relationship there.
More research is needed to know definitively.
What we do know is that people with high blood pressure benefit greatly from bringing it down, particularly if lowering it also improves their health and reduces their stress.
Of course, this is why we highly recommend chiropractic care.
The right care may just radically transform your health and your life… beyond the pain relieving benefits and improvement in movement that chiropractic is generally most well known.
As a quick aside on a few of the points in the video…
General recommendations like reducing salt, eating more fruits and vegetables, and getting more exercise can help depending on the individual.
There are more specific lifestyle recommendations that may be much more useful for you.
You can eat too much salt.
You should not go completely crazy with it, but for most people the recommendation to reduce salt is probably most helpful just because it means limiting all the highly processed junk foods that contain salt more than simply the salt itself.
Eat more fruits and vegetables…
This common recommendation may be helpful for some people.
It really depends on the specific person.
It’s also very likely that doing so is most helpful because it means, like with salt, that you are eating less of the highly processed junk food that is high in sugar and essentially grains with ‘vegetable’ oils made into various shapes.
Exercise more…
This is generally good advice, although very non-specific and therefore not too helpful.

Expert advice for each person’s particular situation is much more helpful.
It better serves the person, improves their health, and reduces chances of injury.
