Improving the Risk Of Falls In Seniors (and Everyone Else) in Texarkana
One CRITICALLY important factor for balance they missed…
How Do We Balance?
It’s this sense, the unconscious sense of proprioception, which gives our brain the most information about us in our environment.
There are of course 2 eyes and 2 ears to help with balance (and other things!).
Contrast this with the number of muscles, tendons, and joints in our body that constantly provide this crucial (proprioceptive) information to our brains.
If we have stiffness in a joint or tightness in a muscle, the brain loses some of it’s normal input that tells us where we are in space.
This effects the ability of the brain to coordinate and control motor output and often results in balance problems which dramatically increase the risk of falls.
Who Should You See As A Doctor To Evaluate This Problem?
How Can It Be Evaluated?
See a Chiropractor to ensure you are better able to control your musculoskeletal system and your balance.
A few very highly specialized tests exist to measure problems with balance and motor control, but the reality is that the vast majority of these problems can be evaluated through special exam procedures in office.
