How often should you see a chiropractor?
Take a look at this video which explains how often people should see a chiropractor for the best results.
A study looked at how often a person should see a chiropractor and how visit frequency might effect results.
In this study of chronic headache sufferers, the people were divided into 4 groups that were treated for 6 weeks…
The treatments were:
- 1 chiropractic treatment,
- 2 chiropractic treatments,
- 3 chiropractic treatments,
- and no chiropractic but instead massage.
Prior studies had shown that people with these chronic headaches responded well to care.
In this study the researchers wanted to compare the effects of different visits per week on outcome.
The outcome measurements were:
- Headache frequency at end of 6 weeks.
- Headache frequency after one year without additional care.
The results at the end of 6 weeks were that…
The headache sufferers receiving 3 chiropractic treatments per week did best.
All chiropractic treatment groups did better than the massage only group.
After one year without additional care, the 3 times per week for 6 weeks chiropractic group had 3 to 4 fewer headaches per month on average than the massage group!
A similar study on chiropractic and people with low back pain found similar results with greater number of chiropractic treatments helping low back pain better than less visits.
The studies suggest that more chiropractic care early in your care is likely to have greater and longer lasting benefits than less care for you.
Many Different Factors Determine How Frequently You Should See A Chiropractor.
Each person will have a different problem, even if the symptoms are the same.
In fact, symptoms are really not the best marker for any health problem including why you have headaches, neck pain, back pain, or some other problem!
Did you know that about half of people discover they have a heart problem when they have a heart attack?
…Or that diabetes, hypertension, cancer, Alzheimer’s dementia, Parkinson’s disease, autoimmune conditions, and most other chronic devastating health problems take years if not decades to develop?
Unfortunately, we have no idea that the problems are destroying our health until they reach a certain threshold… crossing the line into symptoms at a late process in the disease.
Beyond this, each person will have other differences…
Mobility, strength of muscles, movements, and motor control from the nervous system.
We all also have unique recovery speeds and capacities.
For example a problem that effects fuel delivery or increases like diabetes or a breathing problem will reduce our recovery speed.
Age, general health, our daily habits, and a lot more all influence our ability to recover even with the best chiropractic care in Texarkana!
Many people think seeing a chiropractor is one time will fix all their problems.
Often even one visit does help an individual, BUT many more benefits occur after that time.
The reality is that most often outside of a major trauma like a car accident, fall, or a sports injury, problems take a lot of time to build up.
This also means that many problems take time to resolve and as the research mentioned above, getting more care over the first 6 weeks leads to better outcomes with less pain even a year later!
