7 Steps For A Much Healthier New Year!
Healthy habits make you more healthy, unhealthy ones make you less healthy. This one statement really tells us what we need to do to improve health, it’s improving our daily habits.
As far as health goes, everything counts. This is what often makes it seem like an overwhelming task. The best thing is to simply get started and keep improving, moving forward to doing better over time.
“I just have bad genes.”
This might be the most destructive myth we’re told in regards to our health.
Yes, genetics does play a role… BUT it’s our habits and environment that determine how or if we express different genes, including those that lead us into disease.
Commit to doing whatever it takes to really improve your health THIS year.
- It should include eating the right diet which of course is confusing for most so we try to offer specific recommendations for the patients we see in our office.
- In general, cut out most sugar, really ALL fast foods, and ALL highly processed foods (think grains, ‘vegetable‘ oils, and sugar in various boxes and packages)
- Make sure you exercise regularly whether it’s in the gym, running, or by training in a Texarkana martial arts class.
- Get enough sleep, and if you have kids make absolutely sure they’re getting enough sleep! This is critical if you want to be at your best and you want your kids to be their best!
- Try to get outside frequently in the sunlight and hopefully in nature at times.
- Eliminate bad habits like tobacco or other things that you already know that you need to give up.
- Here’s a very big and under-appreciated one, seeing your chiropractor often enough for you and your family. The frequency varies by the individual. If you’re unsure of how often just ask.
- This can go a very long way in improving how well your body is functioning and reducing any excessive stress (which can be helped with exercise, family time, getting outside, seeing your chiropractor regularly, and eating right).
These habits… sleeping enough, eating better, exercising often, giving up bad habits, going outside, chiropractic care, and reducing stress will dramatically improve your health.
You can’t just pick and choose the one you like to change your life.
It takes many things synergistically working together to really change your life.
