Mood and Movement.
Many studies have demonstrated improvement in depression with exercise.
The reason is that movement drives a huge amount of brain activity. It’s how we’re wired.
It’s one of the reasons that chiropractic care can have a huge impact on neurological function – with movement based treatments.
The problem is often that the depressed person doesn’t have the energy to exercise.
The best way to start exercising is to start right away, but start very slowly.
Possibly just go walk around the block once a day at first and gradually ramp it up over time.
The amount of exercise you can tolerate varies with the person. Starting slowly like this will allow you to start to move in the right direction while preventing excess fatigue that can occur if you do too much.
It also allows you to begin building all the body’s machinery that help with energy production.
Consistency is very important. Don’t make the mistake of skipping days, especially too often, or you are less likely to benefit.
