Medical Research Shows Chiropractic Care Is Much Better than Medical Treatment or PT!
Low Back Pain is a serious health concern for those that suffer with it.
Back Pain may begin after a work incident. This 2011 study reviewed 894 work comp cases that used different types of treatment… standard medical care with an MD, Physical Therapy (PT), or Chiropractic.
The researchers looked at the records and evaluated subsequent problems with Back Pain over the year following the incident based on initial provider type (MD, PT, DC / Chiropractor, or no treatment).
In work-related nonspecific low back pain, the use of health maintenance care provided by physical therapist or medical physician services was associated with a higher disability recurrence than in chiropractic services or even no treatment.
From the Back Pain Work Comp Study…
“In our study, after controlling for demographics and severity indicators, the likelihood of recurrent disability due to low back pain for recipients of services during the health maintenance care period by all other provider groups was consistently worse when compared with recipients of health maintenance care by chiropractors.”
Here’s how the research broke down:
- Low back pain patients treated by a physical therapist were 200% more likely to have another injury over the next year versus those treated by a chiropractor.
- Low back pain patients treated by a medical doctor were even more likely to have another injury that those treated by a PT. These patients were 270% more likely to have more low back pain over the next year than those treated by a Chiropractor.
- Chiropractic patients also had far less opioid use.
- Chiropractic patients had far fewer back surgeries.
Based on this small study and so many others, wouldn’t it make sense for low back pain sufferers to see a Chiropractor first?
- The back pain sufferers recovered better in the Chiropractic group versus MD or PT treatment.
- Chiropractic patients had significantly reduced risk of experiencing back pain over the next year following treatment.
- Chiropractic patients took far less medication and importantly had much less opiod use.
- Chiropractic back pain treatment resulted in much less back surgery.
- Chiropractic care was significantly cheaper.
Less suffering, less back pain in the future, less medication, less opiate use, less surgery, AND Chiropractic is cheaper!
Wouldn’t it make sense for Back Pain Sufferers to see a Chiropractor first?
