Chiropractic Care Found To Significantly Improve Acute Lower Back Pain
A recent study published in the Journal, Spine, demonstrates that Chiropractic Care helps people suffering with back pain reduce pain and improve ability to perform physical tasks.
"Adding Chiropractic Manipulative Therapy to Standard Medical Care for Patients With Acute Low Back Pain." SPINE Volume 38, Number 8, pp 627–634. 2013
The study looked at changes in pain levels and physical functioning in response to standard medical care vs. medical care plus chiropractic manipulative therapy for the treatment of low back pain (LBP). It was performed looking at active duty military.
The researchers found that Chiropractic Care combined with Medical Treatment "offers a significant advantage for decreasing pain and improving physical functioning when compared with only medical care for acute LBP (lower back pain)."
Low back pain (LBP) is a very common (estimated to effect more than 80% of the population) and costly problem for so many people. It can result in losses of work (therefore pay), ability to perform daily activities at home, and interferes greatly with the quality of your life.
Chiropractic manipulative therapy (called a lumbar adjustment) is commonly used to treat patients with lower back pain (LBP). More than 7% of US adults see a chiropractor every year. This means collectively about 190 million visits to a chiropractor each year!
More than 200 published studies evaluate the effects of Chiropractic and/or manipulative therapy for lower back pain (LBP). The overwhelming majority demonstrate that Chiropractic manipulation is effective at treating a variety of painful conditions. These are especially supportive of treatment of back pain.
The study referenced above again demonstrates that Chiropractic Care is an excellent way to reduce back pain and improve physical performance.
Other studies have demonstrated excellent improvement in chronic back pain and neck pain with Chiropractic Care. This study demonstrates excellent improvement in people with lower back and leg pain from a disc problem that are treated Chiropractically. This treatment does not involve prescription medication like opiates that have become a real concern over the last several years.
