According to a recent study, almost 1/2 of Alzheimer’s cases are due to hyperinsulinemia.
What is hyperinsulinemia?
High insulin levels in the blood, specifically in this case high over a long period of time.
This begs the question…
“What causes high insulin levels in the blood?”
Several things effect insulin release and levels.
The largest determinant is dietary.
Carbs (sugars and starches) cause the greatest insulin release.
Nothing else has as great an effect… Eat more carbs, release more insulin.
Eat too many carbs over a period of time, many serious problems occur including loss of brain mass resulting in Alzheimer’s Disease.
You don’t feel it happening.
It’s like many other chronic diseases.
Your brain’s atrophy occurs slowly over time and a huge amount is lost before symptoms occur.
Other health problems are also caused by and related to high insulin levels.
These range from weight gain, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, neurodegenerative diseases (including Alzheimer’s), pain, inflammation, mood problems, fatigue, …
The rate of diabetes is sky rocketing due to diet and lifestyle choices.
Alzheimer’s Disease is yet one more huge problem on the horizon for us.
Good News, Bad News!
You can change course right now for you (and your family) regardless of where you are at right now on the health spectrum.
You can not blame your parents, your genes, or bad luck.
You can not change any of those things.
You can change what you do.
Strive to really improve your lifestyle… diet, sleep, exercise, exposures to unnecessary toxic chemicals in your environment.
Your future self will thank you and if you’re raising kids you’ll give them a much greater chance of enjoying a happy, healthy life and achieving more of what they are meant to accomplish.
