Insight into How You Can Improve Your Back Pain.
A recent study in Arthritis Care & Research, found that weight and depression were independent predictors of back pain risk.
Increasing body weight by a modest 9-10 lbs had a significant effect, increasing back pain.
Exercise had the opposite effect, significantly reducing back pain.
In fact the authors reported, "Engaging in ANY vigorous leisure physical activity significantly reduced risk."
COMMENTS
The study illustrates an important idea…
No matter how many phenomenal advances we see in technology and the medical sciences, what we do on a daily basis makes such a huge difference in our pain and other disease processes.
If you're not exercising, then try to add some daily exercise that is appropriate for what you can do right now.
If you're depressed, get outside and walk a little. The sun and the movement often helps.
If you're overweight, look to your diet. What you eat is the primary determinant of what you weigh.
