September 2017 is Drug-Free Pain Management Awareness Month
Listen to Retired Brig. General Rebecca Halstead as she discusses how Chiropractic saved her life… and what it can do for others suffering with various problems and pain without drugs or surgery.
“Prescription opioid use and abuse that leads to addiction and often disastrous outcomes have put our nation at risk, with millions of American lives literally hanging in the balance,” says General Halstead.
“Unfortunately, people get prescribed addictive painkillers (narcotics) and the downward journey begins. When these prescriptions are no longer available or affordable, they seek out cheaper and more potent drugs like heroin and fentanyl. The results are shattering, as more than 90 Americans die each day from drug overdoses.”
General Halstead developed chronic pain and fibromyalgia in 2005.
She describes her fibromyalgia pain as unmanageable. Ultimately she states, “I refused and sought out other solutions.”
She says, “Chiropractic care literally saved my life.”
Chiropractic care can make a huge difference in Pain Management by focusing on improving what is causing the pain in the person rather than only treating the symptoms. Medications can help people suffering with pain.
Ideally the medications should be for as little time as necessary (no one really argues against this point) as the person gets treatment to correct the underlying issue and improve function, this is successfully done every day in our Texarkana office with Chiropractic Care.
